Sew Russia: Homemade Chicken Broth

Who doesn’t love chicken broth! Even better…who doesn’t love chicken broth without all the preservatives? In today’s time we really don’t know what’s in our food. Cooking our food naturally, I will admit can be a bit time consuming, but it’s well worth the wait.

I have been breaking out my crockpot lately. I have cut or grocery cost down by buying whole chickens. Who new that a $6 chicken could make multiple meals and stretch for days during the week. This is real for the busy Mom.

I seasoned my chicken with:

*Himalaya Pink Salt

*Pepper

*Onion Powder

*Garlic Powder

*Thyme

*Italian Dressing (I also put this inside the chicken)

Talk about flavor! I put my chicken in the crockpot with not even a cup of water. Maybe about 1/2 cup so the chicken wouldn’t loose it’s flavor, but enough so that it wasn’t dry. I turned my crockpot on high for 4-5 hour and VOILA! The water turned into broth.

Sew Russia: I’m Backkk!

Hey everyone!

How has 2017 treated you? Honestly for me it was s step up from 2016. I didn’t get quite as many goals as I would have liked to accomplished, but I am surprised at the success that I have had. I felt that 2017 for me was the year of awareness. I became aware of so much in my health, career, and home. I feel that I have been awakened.

I haven’t been consistent in my social media because I have been trying to figure out the direction I would like to go. I have been running across all of his advice on the internet telling me to pick one things and stick to it. Well that doesn’t work for me. I am creative in every since, and although I would like to showcase my sewing I have so much more to share.

I decided to convert my blog into a lifestyle blog. Doing this will allow me to hit every creative and personal nail that I would like to share. Some days I will showcase my sewing, some days I may want to teach something, some days I may want to show a product I purchased, and some days I may want to share a sneak peak into my family life.

As we all know, there is no one side to life. Life is composed of so many things & you’ll never know what the day may bring. I am a very random person at heart. I love living in the moment and cherishing every moment. That’s just how I am.

So with that being said I will be sharing with you weekly here on my Blog and on my Vlog. I look forward to taking to along my journey!

Sew Russia: How I Package My Items

Nothing is more satisfying than when my work looks clean. I work extremely hard to produce quality items. Now I’m not going to lie, I have made my share of mistakes. Who hasn’t? There is a learning curve to everything. You don’t just wake up one day and know it all. You learn each day, and one of the main ways we learn is through trial and error.

I spend a lot of nights researching. I would love to say mornings, but  I am honestly more of a night owl than a morning person. At night I get a little more free time when my husband and daughter are sleep (If they go to sleep). For about 1-2 years I have visualized how I would like my products packaged. I knew that I wanted my products in something that I looked professional.

It is very important to make sure that you check your items thoroughly before shipping them off to clients. You want your work to look as clean as possible.

In addition to the product(s) ordered you should package your business card, thank you cards, coupons/gift certificates, and any other communications such as fliers. This lets clients know how they can contact you for future orders. It lets them know you appreciate their business. It lets them in on any important information you want them to know that they may be interested in.

I ordered mine from Vista Print. They have really good deals. Their products are very professional looking. I have not had any issues with ordering from them. Items have arrived on time and in great condition.

I always think steps ahead. I like to plan for the worst or the “unseen”. What if its raining or snowing and the box that is being delivered gets wet or damaged? There should be extra packaging inside to protect your product. I sew and heat press shirts. So what would be great for this? Cello bags! There is one problem with that. The only cello bags that I found locally were only big enough to put cookies and candy in. I needed to find bags that were big enough to fit shirts and clothing in. I knew I would have to search online. I got 10 X 13 inch  self seal poly cello bags from Amazon here. It is one pack containing 100 bags. It’s perfect for what I need, and it gets the job done. I actually started using them immediately and had no issues using them.

How To Take Pictures Properly|Photo Quality Matters|How To Take Professional Pictures|Professional Look|Professional Photos

If you are an entrepreneur you know that building a business can be tough. The beginning stages are always hard. I say its the test to see how bad you truly want your dream. It separates the dreamers from the doers. If you’re like me you can find yourself trying to keep up with many things to build your brand. Not only are you the creative person, your the writer, editor, marketing team, advertisement team, and photographer.

First impressions are everything. It can truly make or break your sales. People love professioanlism. When you use online to market and advertise you need to make sure your pictures are appealing. People cannot see what you have to offer in person, so you need to create an experience that feels as if they are in person. Your branding will be the experience they will remember your brand by. Male or good.

If you are starting out you may not have money for lights and a fancy camera. That’s prlerfectly fine. Everyone has to start somewhere. Here are some tips for creating professional photos:

1. Use Your Smart Phone

In this day and time everyone has a smart phone. Make sure that your phone has the highest quality possible. You don’t want to take blurry and/or unclear photos. You want your clients to see your pictures as if they we’re in person. Rememebr PEOPLE LOVE PROFESSIONALISM.

2. Use Natural Sun Light

Not only is it free, but in most cases you may not need a filter. Try shooting early in the morning, or at a time when the Sun is shining bright. Sun light is perfect. With the sun shining bright you will be able to get clear pictures that clients can see.

3.Get Multiple Angles

Think front, back, side to side, up and down when shooting photos. You want your client to seen your ENTIRE product from every angle possible. Remember…create an experience.

4. Use Filters

Search for photo editing apps to help You get the look that speaks to your brand. I have used the app called “Photo Editor Pro”. You can also use Instagram. I like to post  and delete my photos.Your pictures save on your phone.

5.Use A Professional Looking Background

You don’t want your background to be busy. Your background should be clear unless your decor compliments your product. You can achieve this by using poster board. You can use a clean wooden floor. You can use a clear wall. You can even get creative and use accents from the great out doors.

You need to make sure your pictures are something that would appealingntomyour eyes. If it doesn’t look professional to you DO NOT POST IT!!! People will be turned off from your brand.

Please see some of the pictures below that I have taken using natural sunlight.

My Review On Queen Of the South

I will admit it. At first I was a little skeptical about watching Queen of the South. A few days ago I ran across the actually trailer. Once I was a business woman/entrepreneur I was sold. Once I saw that she was a minority I was sold even more.

For those of you who did know what this show is or what it’s about, it’s about a woman who gets romanically involved with a drug dealer and her life just goes downhill from there.  I was only looking to be entertained, but I did learn a few things in watching this show.

1. There is never an excuse to give up.

The main character’s name is Teresa. She is truly a surviver. She had every reason to give up, but she didn’t. She got placed in tough situations and had to figure a way out.

Life will throw us lemons. We must never give up. We must stay persistent in our efforts, knowing that better days are ahead.

2. If you want it you will go after it.

Nothing is promised to anyone and everyone wants something. It’s not anyone’s job to hand you over what you want. Getting what you want takes getting off your butt, and doing uncomfortable things. She wanted freedom and to help her friend as well.

3. Risks can cost you everything, but are necessary.

If you never take a risk you will never know. Taking a risk doesn’t mean the timing will be right. Taking a risk does not mean that everyone will support or like what you are doing.

4. You determine if you want to live.|Everyday is a fight.

Everyday is a fight. You’re either going to get in the fight or gain nothing.

 5. You have to think quick on your feet.

Every situation can’t be planned and will not go as planned. You have to be able to think quickly on you’re feet.

6. Networking is one of the keys to success.

Who you know is more powerful than what you know. Get out and build relationships with people. Create your own circle of friends and acquaintances.

8. Sometimes you will be put in situations you dont want to be in, but detemine how you will get out.

Sometimes we will be thrown into situations we didn’t ask for. You either roll with the punches or get punched. Being in a situation you didn’t ask for gives you no excuse to not be your best anyway.
