Sew Russia: How I Package My Items

Nothing is more satisfying than when my work looks clean. I work extremely hard to produce quality items. Now I’m not going to lie, I have made my share of mistakes. Who hasn’t? There is a learning curve to everything. You don’t just wake up one day and know it all. You learn each day, and one of the main ways we learn is through trial and error.

I spend a lot of nights researching. I would love to say mornings, but  I am honestly more of a night owl than a morning person. At night I get a little more free time when my husband and daughter are sleep (If they go to sleep). For about 1-2 years I have visualized how I would like my products packaged. I knew that I wanted my products in something that I looked professional.

It is very important to make sure that you check your items thoroughly before shipping them off to clients. You want your work to look as clean as possible.

In addition to the product(s) ordered you should package your business card, thank you cards, coupons/gift certificates, and any other communications such as fliers. This lets clients know how they can contact you for future orders. It lets them know you appreciate their business. It lets them in on any important information you want them to know that they may be interested in.

I ordered mine from Vista Print. They have really good deals. Their products are very professional looking. I have not had any issues with ordering from them. Items have arrived on time and in great condition.

I always think steps ahead. I like to plan for the worst or the “unseen”. What if its raining or snowing and the box that is being delivered gets wet or damaged? There should be extra packaging inside to protect your product. I sew and heat press shirts. So what would be great for this? Cello bags! There is one problem with that. The only cello bags that I found locally were only big enough to put cookies and candy in. I needed to find bags that were big enough to fit shirts and clothing in. I knew I would have to search online. I got 10 X 13 inch  self seal poly cello bags from Amazon here. It is one pack containing 100 bags. It’s perfect for what I need, and it gets the job done. I actually started using them immediately and had no issues using them.

Sew Russia: 5 Ways To Grow Your Business

I can count with many hands how many times I have heard people tell tales of their ventures being unsuccessful. It can be very discouraging. It can lead one to think, well how will my goals work out if thiers didnt? Especially when they have cool items and services to offer.

Have you ever heard that saying “Different strokes for different folks? Well…it’s true! What works for one may not work for another.

While my issue isn’t with getting attention and sales, but rather organizing everyone’s requests (That’s another topic for another time.) I am happy to share some of the methods I use to grow my business.

1. Be Serious

You have to treat your business just like you would  any job. No one will take you seriously if you do not take yourself, and what you do seriously. You would not lay around all day on your job so you should not do the same when it comes to your business. There is always something to do. Plan to attend a seminar. Learn a skill. Buy a book relating to your craft. Make a to-do list and get every thing done.

2.Network with others

It is not enough to think that people will always come to you. Truth be told, you are probably not getting sales because people don’t know you or what you do. Introduce yourself to others. Join social media groups and actually chime in on the discussions that are going on. Show your interest in others and they will want to support you.

3. Don’t be afraid

There is absolutely no room for fear. Everyone who has ever been great has made a mistake or a thousand. Everyone who has ever gained something great took a risk. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and into your destiny.

4.Post…post…post…away!

You have to be your number one supporter. No one will go harder for you than you. Make sure you are introducing your brand every chance you get. Post on as many platforms available. Especially dedicate your time where you receive the most engagement and referrals.

5. Learn from others

I always say the greatest never stop learning. You will never know it all. Even when you become one of the best at your craft, there will always be something to learn. You can learn from those who have more experience than you, and also from those who have the least amount of experience than you do. Be open to learning. Be open-minded when it comes to learning. Your success depends on it.

6. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

You are not for everyone…and it’s ok. Do not get easily distracted by rejection. Your goal should not be to sell to everyone you meet, but rather to your audience. You need to know who your products are sepcifcally designed for and why. How will what you offer benefit them? Know who you are talking to and focus only on them.

Sew Russia: Sewww You Want To Start A Business…Here Are The 1st Steps

image

Hello! You are here because you want to start a business! That’s great. Believe it or not that’s the first important step to starting a business. You have to KNOW you want to do it.

I am going to list 6 things you need to do to start a business. Lets get into it!

1.Come up with a niche.

You must know what it is you want to do. Do you want to be a seamstress? Do you want to be a carpenter? Do you want to be an interior decorator? Do you want to own a trucking company? Do you want to flip houses?

You have to be clear on what it is that you have a passion for doing. Don’t just pick something because it sounds appealing. Relate what you want to do to what you are passionate about. Trust me. You will need that on the days it all seems too hard, and you feel like giving up. Find your passion, and you find something worth living for!

2.What is your vision?

Where do you see yourself now, and in a couple of years? How far do you want to take your vision? Do you want to work from home? Do you want to own/lease a building? Do you want to enter shows?

You have to know how far you want to go in your endeavors. You will need to know your limits as well as what you are not limited to.

3.Research…Research…Research!

You need to know what you are getting yourself into. You need to make sure that this is exactly what you want. Even through the good and bad times, you have to still want it. Read blogs, search websites, watch tutorials/YouTube videos, and join Facebook groups. You always want to know What you are getting yourself into. Of course you will discover new things along the way, but it is your responsibility to equip yourself as much as possible.

4.Invest in your brand!

Here is the big step to getting everything going! Discipline yourself. Investing in equipment and tools will get you going in the right direction. You will need to read books and to attend seminars too. Group meetings with like-minded people will help keep you informed, and up to date on your chosen industry.  You will need computers and software to keep up with your data. Also, search apps that will help you become successful. These are just to list a few.

5.Come up with and/or find a financial plan.

You will need funding to purchase things you will need for your business. Set aside a savings for that. Invest every paycheck even if its a $5-$10 contribution, it still counts. A little at a time adds up over time!

Cut back on the things that you can. Maybe you can get a roommate and split the cost of rent. Maybe you can go without eating out for a while. Decide what you can do to push yourself into the direction of your dreams.

6. Write it all down.

No one remembers every single thing. We all end up forgetting eventually. It is important to write your thoughts and goals down. Once it is written progression can start. You will find yourself challenging yourself to attain what you wrote down. Also, you can come back to what you wrote down months/years later if you need that information at that time.

7.Believe even when you cannot see.

It will not be easy. Sometimes you will feel like giving up, and you cannot even see your own dream. You have to believe even when it’s not there, or when you can’t see your own vision. You will be your biggest supporter. You will be your greatest friend. You will have to live with yourself forever. Why not make your dreams come true. Why not create something worth living for. Why not do something that even when you are long gone someone thanks you for doing it!

I hope my entry was helpful to someone. Thank you for reading!
