Sew Russia:Holiday Table Decor

I come from a world of humble beginnings. I learned at a very early age that I have to create the world I wanted. I grew up watch my mother and grand mother decorating their house and Making the most of what they had. They made middle class living look like luxury. I learned a lot of my creative skills from watch them and many others in my family.

It has been a shame that I have been in my house for months and I have not decorated. There has just been so much going on in Baton Rouge in the year 2016 that it really put a damper on my creative spirit, but I am slowly but surely regaining it.

My first project was decorating my dining room table. I am in love with the outcome. The colors of my kitchen are red and gold. Previously I didn’t really care for gold, but now I am completely obsessed with the color.

I also did a tutorial on how I created these pieces for my table. Click the link to view it: How to Decorate Your Table For the Holidays. You can tweak it however you want.

Sew Russia: Behind the Seams- Golden Goddess

Oh how I LOVE creating pretty things. Its like a lot of hard work that is sewww worth it in the end. I had fun creating this piece I call the “Golden Goddess”.

The fabric screamed out royalty, which is EXACTLY how I want my clients to feel. I want them to be able to take a mental escape for a second and be in the moment with each piece I make.

I have decided to take you behind the seams with this design.

I did get to dabble in a bit of draping. I don’t know if I sky rocketed to the advanced level (It felt like it). All I know is I was creating something that seemed like it was about to turn out really nice.

My daughter whom had been my fabric picking partner throughout this while journey picked out this fabric to go along with the color of this skirt. I thought it was a brilliant combination.

Here is the final look of the front.

Here is the final look of the back.

Sew Russia: BBQ SalmonĀ

Hey ya’ll!

Here is another oh so very yummy tutorial!!!! As you know I have been trying to cook salmon, my favorite fish many ways. I now can proudly say that I don’t have to depend on only dining at resturants to eat a great tasting salmon. I can now cooking it in my own kitchen just as well! Whoo!!! Hoo!!! I am excited.

There is only one down fall. I will have to refrain from eating it everyday so I don’t get burnt out on it. The temptation will be hard. Very hard.

Well…let’s get started!

Ingredients:

*McCormick Brown Sugar Burbon

*BBQ Sauce

*Salmon

*Salt and Pepper

1. You are going to cook your salmon halfway.

2. Pour Brown sugar burbon and a light amount of BBQ sauce on your salmon and broil it for about 20-25 minutes.

3. Eat

Sew Russia: One of My Little Reading Secrets

Hey ya’ll!

I am just going to share one of my little secrets. Reading is so very important. Almost EVERYTHING you need to know and discover is inside of a book! I personally have always been a fan of self-help and business books.

I am currently finishing up “Grow Your Handmade Business” by Kari Chapin. I have both Kari’s books. I even bought one book twice. I did see change and growth after reading her books.
The key is not only to read the information, but to also apply what you have learned.  You can only grow if you actually act action towards your goals and new found knowledge. You have to come up with your own way to be consistent about what you’re passionate about. These books help you come up with a plan.

This book is a MUST GRAB  for anyone wanting to start a business period. It helps you identify every aspect of your business. She speaks generally so just about everyone doing anything can apply these steps to their business. You can only grow if you know!

I know a lot of y’all are into Amazon and EBay, but also check out AbeBooks. They are perfect for getting books in a timely manner and also you can get REALLY GOOD discounts on books! Check them out.
